What everyone misses about the throat chakra

In Wednesday's Kundalini class, we explored the Throat Chakra. I chose this theme after a heartfelt conversation with one of our dear members. After class, they mentioned experiencing intense sensations in their throat and asked, “Could this be connected to the Throat Chakra?” “Definitely possible,” I said. They followed up, “Isn’t the throat about speaking up? ”Yes — but there’s more. I explained that while the Throat Chakra is about speaking up, it’s not just about sharing your opinions or personal experiences. The throat is the center of truth — universal truth. Truth that transcends our stories. Not just your truth, but the truth. Let’s take a step back.
The chakra system moves from earth to sky — from survival to transcendence: Root (1st Chakra): Safety, survival, and your place in the world Sacral (2nd): Feeling and allowing emotion, letting it flow instead of controlling or clinging Solar Plexus (3rd): Power, self-worth, confidence, and your inner story These first three chakras are about our physical, grounded experience here on Earth. Then comes the Heart, the bridge. The heart unlocks the upper chakras, those associated with higher awareness and consciousness. When we see ourselves with love and compassion, we begin to see others that way too. Judgments fall away. We start to treat everyone with kindness and unity. So why am I telling you all this in a note about the Throat Chakra? Because if your lower chakras and heart aren’t in balance, speaking truth becomes almost impossible. You may think you’re being honest — but if you’re still carrying fear, emotional overwhelm, unworthiness, or judgment, you're likely speaking from your story, not from truth. Back to the student. This beautiful soul has been doing deep work: yoga, meditation, healing childhood wounds. So I asked, “What truth do you need to speak right now?” They shared vulnerably — personal truths, experiences, pain. All valid. But they were still relative truths — true for them, yes, but rooted in their story. So I asked again, gently reframing: “What’s always been true?” They paused.
And was still unsure.
I shared:“The truth is...
you were always loved.
You were always worthy.
You were always cared for — even (and especially) when you were just a child, trying to survive a confusing world.”
The lightbulb went off.
This is the power of the Throat Chakra.
You can’t speak truth until you know it.
And once you know it — deep down in your body — you begin to embody it.
That’s when your life changes. Your energy shifts. You show up differently. You bring heaven to earth by uniting mind, body, and soul. That’s yoga — union.
From the soul’s perspective, you are a radiant spark of the Divine.
But until you bring that knowing into your body — until you live it — the transformation is incomplete.
So here’s my question for you:
What truth do you believe… but haven’t spoken?
What do you know deep down… but haven’t yet lived into? It’s time to bring it to life.
